Michael Landau ETEC 498 Fall 2004 npono2@pixi.com The History of Libraries and its Influence
on Writing
This paper explores the ways the institution of libraries ? institutions
of reading but also of transcription, adaptation, and translation - have
through their history influenced the content and technologies of writing.
First of all, since reading and writing are two aspects of a single process,
and what we read influences what we write, these centers of reading and
foci of distribution of texts have directly influenced writers. But there
have been other less obvious influences on the technologies and mediums
of writing.
If you would like to learn more about the origins of this writing technology, its evolution, or its significance, please click on the appropriate hyperlink. |
