ETEC 498: Writing as/with Technology

This writing-intensive course, approved by the UH-Manoa Information Technology Alliance, examines the history of writing with technology and explores the idea of writing as a form of technology. Innovative, collaborative writing activities helped develop a community of writers dedicated to experimenting with writing technologies to produce original works for print and electronic publication.  The following links will take you to a showcase of student work.

Have a look at our group's first experiments with hypertext, an adaption of their conventional, linear essays on the history of writing as/with technology.

Interactive, Collaborative Fiction
Our group's first experiments with interactive fiction writing resulted from a truly collaborative effort.  Take a look!

The Future of Writing as/with Technology
Our group's hypertext stories and essays speculate upon the "future of writing as/with technology."  These stories and essays evolved from classroom activities such as the "Why List," experiments with interactive fiction, and peer reviews.

Our group's e-portfolios provide each student's selection of their favorite writing samples, from blog entries and discussion forum postings to final drafts and reflections.
