ETEC Department Facilities

ETEC students are able to use the department facilities to develop positive hands-on experiences that may apply to their profession.


College of Education
Technology & Distance Programs

The Office of Technology and Distance Programs coordinates neighbor island program offerings and supports faculty in the effective use of technology. ETEC faculty members Paul McKimmy and Peter Leong serve in administrative positions in TDP. Equipment may be borrowed from the Curriculum Resource Center which maintains a drop-in computer lab. TDP manages the ETEC servers, provides access to the online conferencing system, Elluminate, and COE instructional computer labs.


Facilities on UH Campus

In addition to the ETEC facilities, students also have access to services provided by the University of Hawaii at Manoa, such as libraries, computer labs, and career planning services. Educational pricing for hardware and software are available through ITS for site licenses and the UH Book and Computer Store. ITS provides many online services for students, including UH email, access to the course system, WebCT, and space for personal web pages.

UHM Libraries

The University of Hawai'i at Manoa (UHM) Library is open to anyone who wishes to use its resources in the Hamilton Library and Sinclair Library buildings. Through the UH library system students are able to obtain books and journals for research; to listen and view materials in Sinclair's audio/video center; or just find a quiet space to study. Students in ETEC distance education programs are able to access online resources at UHM or borrow materials through interlibrary loan.


UHM Computer Labs

The University of Hawai'i at Manoa (UHM) Computer Labs offer students access to the latest hardware and software applications. There are currently two major computer labs open for general use: Keller Hall and CLIC Lab. Computers are available on the first-come first-serve basis. In order to use these facilities, students are required to show their student ID cards. Both facilities are equipped with Macintosh, PC computers, printers and scanners.
