ETEC 603: Learning to Learn Online

Description

The Learning to Learn Online "retreat" course provides students the fundamentals necessary to be successful in the Online Masters in Educational Technology (OMED).  As this is the first course in the online masters sequence, the course emphasizes collaboration and team building. Students will learn to utilize the technical, physical, and mental tools necessary to be successful in the OMED program. See class syllabus for more detailed information.

Prerequisite: Must be enrolled in the OMED program. 3 units.

Dr. Menchaca is currently the coordinator of the OMED program. He is in his second year teaching at UH. He previously taught in and coordinated an online masters in at Sacramento State University. He was an IT specialist for many years.

In addition to the indicated textbooks, the OMED program requires a standard set of software that will be utilized throughout the entire program. If you do not wish to use the campus bookstore, click on the title or its icon to order directly through Amazon.com or Journeyed.com for Macromedia Studio 8. Microsoft Office should be acquired from our campus bookstore for the best discount.

Grading

Grades will be determined in the following fashion:

1. Participation in online activites and face-to-face: 30%.
2. Completion of face-to-face mini-activities (cannot be made up): 30%.
3. Final Project: 40%.

Final Project

The "Retreat" course culminates with the final project which is due on September 23, 2006.
