LEI Aloha

The Learning Enhancement through Innovations project (LEI Aloha) created an infrastructure to systematically infuse technology into teacher education curriculum. Teacher preparation courses were redesigned to become "Technology Intensive" (TI), in which both the instructor and students actively use technology. High tech resources and a mentoring program for faculty members in the COE and the College of Arts and Sciences were provided to effectively integrate technology into preservice teachers' educational experiences.

The current grant project under LEI Aloha is the Connections to Teaching Careers project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Teacher Quality Enhancement Recruitment program. This project is designed to address the teacher shortage need in the Hawai'i Department of Education in the area of Math and Science secondary education.

Technology Intensive Enhancement Series (TIES)

The Technology Intensive Enhancement Series (TIES) of courses is designed to develop technology proficient teachers who will be good role models for their students and collegues in infusing technology into curriculum. The courses are a series of well-designed, technology intensive, teacher education courses that are web and video-enhanced. TIES is primarily designed for K-12 teachers who are sabbatical recipients.

Technology Activators' Project (TAP)

The Technology Activators' Project (TAP) provides in-service and pre-service teachers with strong technological skills that can be applied effectively to enhance teaching and facilitate the learning process.
